Mazwai unapologetic over 'panty' comments, says ANC is patriarchal
Two days after her tweets on how women in the ANC and its affiliate organisations have been reduced to 'panties' went viral - Nstiki Mazwai remains unapologetic over her controversial views despite facing a barrage of criticism.
When Collen Maine was elected unopposed as president of the ANCYL over the weekend - his post sparked a heated debate when musician and poet Mazwai blasted the youth organisation for failing to elect women leaders. Only one woman, deputy secretary general Thandi Moraka made the cut among the few who were present at the conference which took place in Midrand.
A scathing Mazwai tweeted that women in the ANC were 'idiots' and were only good for donning panties to promote the party. She went on to imply that women who held senior positions in the party slept their way to the top.

Today Mazwai continued to stick to her contentious views, stating that the ANC was a party in which patriarchy reigned.

TV presenter Lerato Kganyago took issue with Mazwai's views, saying she had insulted the struggle stalwarts who fought and died to end racial inequality. "A smart person makes a valid point without insulting others," added Kganyago.
Ntsiki just insulted half of the women of this country, including our mothers, grandmothers and the women who struggled during apartheid

Afro soul singer Simphiwe Dana responded to Mazwai's tweets, slamming her for calling herself a feminist but instead "slut shaming" women by referring to them as "panties."
Instead of fighting patriarchy with us, you fight us, slut shame us. You're obviously clueless and twisted sis

A typical case of blaming women for patriarchy. We're used to it. But don't call yourself a feminist when you're a patriarchal princess
