Retain Thuli as #PublicProtector‚ say Twitter users
South African Twitter on Friday again woke up to the question of who should replace the popular Thuli Madonsela as #PublicProtector‚ after candidate interviews at Parliament wrapped up around 3am. Although the topic was trending‚ Graham @Grayam32bn wasn’t sure the process had come to an end‚ and had to ask: “Have the #PublicProtector interviews finished yet”?It might have been taken 20 hours –three more than originally scheduled - but Eye of the Needle @MukelaniDimba enthused: “I'm proud of my country today. Our democracy is a marvel to watch; the good‚ the bad and the ugly of it all. #PublicProtector”.That followed an earlier tweet which showed some serious dedication to follow the entire gruelling sitting of the selection committee: “I've only had two hours of sleep but it was well worth it: watching #opendemocracy in practice at the #PublicProtector interview process.”I've only had two hours of sleep but it was well worth it: watching #opendemocracy in practice at the #PublicProtector interview process. — Eye of the Needle (@MukelaniDimba) August 12, 2016asyncEye of the Needle @MukelaniDimba’s summation: “It was a spectacularly open process; open warts and all‚ even the open treachery of trying to disqualify the current deputy #PublicProtector”.theresa @tesariri would probably not agree with that‚ and seemed to think the whole thing was pointless‚ and the incumbent should be retained: “Darlings- I am the public- my vote- we keep Madame the Madonsela- as our #PublicProtector - this kabbable yesterday! Sheez!”Darlings- I am the public- my vote- we keep Madame the Madonsela- as our #PublicProtector - this kabbable yesterday! Sheez!— theresa (@tesariri) August 12, 2016async Madonsela’s seven-year tenure‚ which ends in October‚ is‚ however‚ non-renewable.This fact did not deter theresa @tesariri‚ who suggested: “Until 'we' all arrive at the same conclusion-I am proposing the Madonsela and you can get the fine lady to assist finding a #PublicProtector”.COOL ABOUT IT @Mtezman was also clearly a Madonsela fan: “Who ever they chose‚ they will have a tough time trying to fill Mama @ThuliMadonsela3 's shoes. #StayThuli #PublicProtector”.Who ever they chose, they will have a tough time trying to fill Mama @ThuliMadonsela3 's shoes. #StayThuli#PublicProtector — COOL ABOUT IT (@Mtezman) August 12, 2016async With the Olympics happening in Rio‚ LERATOTOS ♥s ♬♬♬ @LERAP145 could be forgiven the sports analogy: “That was a marathon ‚ not 100m‚ interview for yhe position of the #PublicProtector. After staying up to watch the #PPinterviews. Today is going to be loooong. #PublicProtector”.Walkin zombie alert! After staying up to watch the #PPinterviews.
