The issue of Senzo Meyiwa’s insurance payout is set to be concluded next week‚ a year and a half after the death of the former Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana captain.

This was confirmed by Pirates chairman Irvin Khoza‚ who is expecting Meyiwa’s father Samuel to be in Johannesburg on Wednesday to “close this chapter”.

Meyiwa’s father has previously gone public to express his frustration at not receiving the insurance money‚ but it looks as though the matter will finally be put to bed in the coming days.

“Next week we will be calling the family for the last time to deal with the issue of Senzo’s insurance from the PSL‚” said Khoza on Thursday.

“I spoke to the father and we have booked flight tickets to make sure the family is available next week. Meyiwa’s partner‚ Mandisa‚ will be part of that meeting.

“We want to close this chapter on the issue around the insurance policy of Senzo Meyiwa.”

In November last year‚ the PSL announced that Meyiwa’s insurance payout had been received and that they would be in contact with Meyiwa’s family.

The insurance pay out is said to be R5-million.
