World number two Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from the Madrid Masters starting Sunday a day after quitting a match in Serbia due to breathing problems.

Djokovic revealed he’s been suffering from spring pollen allergies during the clay season. He quit his Belgrade Open quarter-final Friday after losing the first set to compatriot Filip Krajinovic.

His pullout moves 2009 finalist Rafael Nadal into the second seeding behind Roger Federer.

Djokovic reached the Madrid semi-finals in 2009, losing a marathon match to Nadal, who was beaten the next day in the final by Federer.
