An investigation by the Special Investigating Unit into corruption at the SABC had resulted in almost 30 criminal and hundreds of disciplinary cases being pursued, President Jacob Zuma said yesterday.

He was answering a written parliamentary question by DA MP Marian Shinn about the investigation of the broadcaster ordered by the auditor-general.

"The investigation resulted in 28 criminal cases being referred to the police - nine for fraud and 19 for contravention of the Companies Act," Zuma said.

"In addition, 464 disciplinary cases have been referred to the SABC for recommended action."
