There was nothing organic about my international organic day yesterday. It included a flight and drinking water from a plastic bottle. Shameful really. We should be changing our ways.

Well, at least we can continue to drink wine, which has a way of making us feel a whole lot better about the world. There is a crop of organic wines from which to choose, wines made from grapes grown on organic farms. These farms are using environmentally friendly farming methods. If we can believe them, they don't apply fertilisers, pesticides and other nasties usually used to help the growing of the vines.

What does organic wine taste like? Unlike many of the sulphite-free wines, I found the Earthbound Wines good.

I was given two reds and two whites to try. Despite the popping sound when I opened the screw caps on the bottles of red, they were okay. The cabernet sauvignon 2012 was better than the pinotage 2012. Whether the odd taste of the second was particular to pinotage, I wasn't sure.

Both the whites were good. The chenin blanc 2014 - my love affair with chenin continues - was delicious in fact. The sauvignon blanc 2014 ("the skinny bitch" of wine, an American friend says) was also good. It's easier than you think to drink with a clear conscience.
