Njabulo, Boksburg :Perhaps it is time to re-engage in constructive debate on issues surrounding affirmative action and government policies such as black economic empowerment and broad-based black economic empowerment.

There is a commonly held belief, possibly a misinformed one, that such policies amount to little more than reverse racism.

A ffirmative a ction serves merely to redress past injustices. It does not bar anyone from applying for a desired job, nor does it punish any potential employer from choosing a white candidate over a black one.

It provides incentives in the private sector for companies that assist in facilitating a more transformed and integrated society.
