While the Kuga is undoubtedly the most flammable production car in Ford's long and illustrious history their new GT has apparently just become the fastest. According to a press release issued by the Blue Oval earlier today the firm's halo car is capable of hitting 216mph – or 347km/h in South African speak. But that's not all.

As they're big on independent (and no doubt fair) testing Ford decided to pit the GT against the McLaren 675LT and Ferrari 458 Speciale around Canada's Calabogie Motorsports Park. Which car was the quickest? Well the Ford of course with a laptime of 2:09.8. It was followed closely by the McLaren (2:10.8) and then the Ferrari (2:12.9). Read into this what you will. – Thomas Falkiner
