A 24-year-old man accused of raping a teenage girl has been arrested in Mankweng, Limpopo police said on Tuesday.

The man was arrested on Monday when he reported to the police that a woman had bitten off his tongue, said Constable Matimba Maluleke.

"He arrived with his mother to speak for him as he was unable to speak."

The man and his mother arrived at the police station a day after a 17-year-old girl had reported a rape case.

"She was called and immediately when she saw the man she started screaming pointing at the suspect as the one who raped her."

The man was taken into custody. He would appear in the Mankweng Magistrate's Court soon, said Maluleke.
