Actor Harrison Ford's son said his father might require surgery on his ankle after a hydraulic door fell on him on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII, at Pinewood Studios, in Buckinghamshire, England.

The 71-year-old, who plays Han Solo in the Star Wars films, was airlifted to the John Radcliffe Hospital, in Oxford last week.

Lucasfilm said that "shooting will continue as planned while [Ford] recuperates".

Ben speculated that his father's surgery - a plate might have to be put into his ankle - would affect the filming schedule, with the crew shooting Ford only from the waist up until he recovers fully.

Actress Calista Flockhart, Ford's wife, was apparently en route from America to Oxford to see her husband on Saturday.
