Who rules the world? In entertainment it's Beyoncé, according to Forbes magazine's new Top 100 Celebrity list, released yesterday.

The singer knocked off last year's No1 celebrity, Oprah Winfrey, thanks to her successful Mrs Carter world tour, which included 95 shows that brought in an average of R25-million a pop.

She also released her fifth album, Beyoncé, and continued to rake in millions from her endorsements with H&M and Pepsi - not forgetting her perfumes and fashion label House of Dereon.

Forbes says she earned R1.2-billion in the past year, putting her top of the list for the first time. Her husband, Jay-Z, currently on the road with her for their joint On The Run tour, is in sixth spot with R636-million.

The Forbes rankings are based on an estimation of both fame and money.

Basketball king LeBron James is No2 with R766-million, thanks to deals with Coke and McDonalds.

Dr. Dre recently sold his Beats by Dre headphones to Apple for R32-billion, giving him an annual R6.6-billion and third spot.

Oprah is 4th with R869-million. The others in the top 10 are Ellen DeGeneres (R723-million), Floyd Mayweather (R1.1-billion), Rihanna (R509-million), Katy Perry (R425-million) and Robert Downey Jr (R798-million).
