Bafana Bafana have moved up six places in the latest Fifa World rankings list released yesterday, which are clear signs of progress under coach Shakes Mashaba.

Bafana are now 51st on the global list and 11th in Africa, their highest placing since sitting at No49 in October 2011.

Safa have long stated that their aim was to ensure that Bafana win a regular place in the world's top 20 and the top three in Africa.

There is a long way to go, but progress has been made.

Bafana were 69th on the global list three months ago, before kick off in the 2015 African Nations Cup qualifiers.

There was no change in the global top five, with world champions Germany heading the list, followed by Argentina, Colombia, Belgium and the Netherlands.

Tunisia have jumped to second on the African list ahead of Ivory Coast, but still lie behind Algeria.

Senegal are fourth, followed by Ghana, Guinea, Cape Verde Islands, Cameroon, Nigeria and Mali.
