Former president Nelson Mandela's personal assistant, Zelda la Grange has found herself in hot water after comments she made on Twitter about president Jacob Zuma's 'unwelcome attitude' to whites.

La Grange, who was Madiba's personal assistant for two decades and has penned a memoir on the deceased former statesman's life, has since come under attack for the comments.

Forty-four year old la Grange took to twitter this afternoon to complain that foreign investors felt unwelcome over comments from the president such as it is "unafrican to have dogs, stress is western creation...Makes white people really feel welcome in SA. I think I'm calling Jan (Van Riebeeck) today to ask him what de hell he was thinking sailing to Africa."

She also changed her name on her Twitter profile, calling herself  Zelda van Riebeeck.

La Grange added that she would ask France's President François Hollande, if he wanted her in his country because the ANC, which she branded as an organisation that  "praises Mugabe but condemns De Klerk doesn't want us (whites)  in SA".

Other tweets by La Grange included:

Several commentators were quick to respond to La Grange's comments, including Graça Machel’s daughter JosinaZ Machel, EFF’s leading tweeting man Sentletse, former Eskom Chief Executive, Jacob Maroga and 702 talk show presenter Redi Tlhabi.

Maroga weighed in, tweeting: "Maybe we are disappointed by our self-created expectations. Zelda never claimed to be a thought leader on reconciliation."

Tlhabi meanwhile responded to La Grange by tweeting:

La Grange ended up tweeting she was sorry if it appeared she was generalising as there were good and bad people in all communities.
