The family of Rosalind Franklin, the British scientist celebrated in a new Nicole Kidman play, say she would be "astonished" to be cast as a feminist icon. Kidman stars as Franklin in Photograph 51, the West End production that began its official run on Monday night.Franklin played a key role in discovering the structure of DNA , but was ignored . She died of cancer in 1958 and three male colleagues went on to claim the credit and the Nobel Prize.Kidman has said she wants to shine a light on women whose quiet hard work has been overshadowed by pushier men.But Nigel Franklin, the scientist's nephew, said: "It wasn't something she felt, that she was hard done by. She loved her work, and I really, really don't think that this feminist business that's attached to her was an issue for her at all." ..
