Hunk slam-dunks his first leading role

Durban-born male model Andrew Govender has come a long way since his days as Mr India South Africa.Now audiences will be able to see him in his first lead role in South African movie Free State, which is in cinemas tomorrow.Govender, 29, stars as Ravi, the son of an Indian shop owner in a cross-racial love story set in South Africa in the 1970s.An unexpected love affair is sparked between Nicola Breytenbach, who plays Jeanette, and Ravi during a summer holiday in the Free State.The film screened at festivals, including the Chennai International Film Festival, Pan African Film & Arts Festival, LA USA and won best director at the Luxor African Film Festival."It is very much an Indian film. We haven't had an Indian movie in a very long time. I'm proud to represent the Indian community," Govender said...
