Twitter demands harsh punishment for 'Baby Daniel' torture and murder

Baby Daniel's mother has been convicted of neglect, while her boyfriend has been found guilty of child abuse and murder by the South Gauteng High Court.

The South Gauteng High Court has found a mother and her partner guilty of the abuse that led to the death of her three-year-old son.

The court refused to believe the toddler had "fallen" into a tub of hot water or that the bruises on both his eyes were caused by walking into a glass door.

The accused were not named to protect the true identity of the child, who was referred to as Baby R during court proceedings and Baby Daniel by the media.

Judge Collin Matshitse ruled that all the injuries the little boy suffered were caused by the mother’s boyfriend.

The court also concluded that the mother failed to protect Baby Daniel from her boyfriend.

The boyfriend was found guilty of child abuse and murder, while the mother was convicted on two counts of neglect.

Twitter welcomed the ruling and called for harsh sentences for the convicts.
