A black American with a sense of humour is telling white people who say “go back to Africa” to put their money where their mouths are.Larry Mitchell‚ from Indiana‚ has started a crowdfunding campaign on GoFundMe.“If you want me to go back to Africa I will gladly go... you can help make your dream and mine come true... accepting all donations... KKK‚ Skin Heads and anyone else with like mind thinking are welcome to donate... Thank you.. God bless you and America... #putyourmoneywhereyourhateis‚” he says.So far‚ he has received donations ranging from $5 to $100 to reach a running total of $1‚315 (nearly R19‚000) from 97 people in 10 days. His target is $100‚000.Comments on his page show that most social media commentators understand he is poking fun at prejudice.“Love it! Next time I'm on social media and one of those cave men or women tell me to go back to Africa‚ I'm going to give them your link to donate on! haha!‚” Lea Amos commented.“This is brilliant and I wish I had thought of it. Lol. Now I look forward to a troglodyte telling me that so I can send this link to them. Peace and power‚ fam‚” Iyoba Melo shared.“Lol too funny!!! I love this as well! #putyourmoneywhereyourHATEis!!!!‚” said Kiya Lewis.Sheandra Brown took an earnest tone: “I love your post. Folks have been trying to send us ‘back to Africa’ for so long‚ I'm glad you put them up to the challenge. Can you imagine how much money America would lose if ALL of us (including athletes and entertainers) left and went to Africa? We could start our own businesses‚ hospitals‚ schools and SO much more...now that I think about.... going ‘back to Africa’ isn't a bad idea!”Lola Osoria shared: “I always find the ‘Go Back’ comments so weird. Like do the people saying it are not from here either? If you tell me to go back to Africa‚ I will respond ‘As soon as you buy your ticket to Europe’. This isn't anyone's country but a Native Americans”.Outspoken racists were in short supply on the page. The number of donations seemed to disappoint Seti Imhotep Sam‚ who posted: “They are all talk and no action”.A patriotic Dee Claxton encouraged Mitchell to stay home: “Please don't go to Africa because of the negativity of some people. The people that spread that kind of garbage are not in the majority. You're an American and that is a beautiful thing.”This was echoed by Brandon Kelley‚ who posted: "This has to be one of the funniest things I've seen in a while. Hope you actually go explore and enjoy‚ but come back‚ you are an American".Dustin Brooks also thought a holiday sounded like a great idea‚ commenting: "Lol...Awesome man! I hope you get a big chunk of change and use it for a nice vacation. I saw this and just about ripped my guts open laughing so hard. Good luck on your trip‚ and definitely come back home to the US even it's just to p**s the haters off"...
