The youth wings of Cope and the IFP are calling for a national youth ministry to replace the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) as it has failed young people.
This was one of the resolutions taken by the Inkatha Freedom Party Youth Brigade and the Congress of the People Youth Movement leaders during a meeting in Johannesburg this week.
Leaders of the two organisations said the NYDA, which was said to be dominated by ANC Youth League leaders, had failed to address issues affecting young people.
"We agree that there is a need for a youth ministry that will not only coordinate youth affairs but also implement youth programmes,” said IFPYB spokesman Ntuthuko Majozi.
He said they wanted the NYDA disbanded because it was “nothing but an employment agency for the ruling party elites".
