Ill-disciplined ANC cadres will voluntarily leave the party if the ANC keeps its roots in the masses, re-elected Free State ANC leader Ace Magashule said on Sunday.

Closing the party’s elective conference in Welkom, Magashule said all members should be disciplined cadres of the ANC.

“Those ill-disciplined... we will take time and continuously educate them about the ANC.”  He told delegates that if the party was rooted in the masses, ill-disciplined members would leave the ANC voluntarily... “as they came voluntarily into the ANC”.

Magashule turned to the 2014 elections and urged delegates to focus from now on the preparations for the coming elections.

“We are going to make sure that we have a decisive ANC victory in elections.”  He urged the delegates to adhere to the call of ANC deputy-president Cyril Ramaphosa, who had urged delegates to build the unity of the party.

“Our actions as leaders in the province and regions are important,” he said, adding that leaders had the responsibility to protect the credibility of the ANC.

“We can deliver it: rebuild the structures of the ANC, unity, go back to our masses , go door to door.”

Magashule told the delegates the party was not about individuals and that hard work was ahead to restore order in about 60 branches that did not make it to the re-run provincial conference.
