A councillor accused of conspiring to murder North West premier Supra Mahumapelo and a mayor was granted bail by the Lehurutshe Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, the Hawks said.
Gaasite Legalatladi was released on R3000 bail and her case postponed to January 28, Captain Paul Ramaloko said.
The Hawks arrested her on Tuesday for conspiring to murder Mahumapelo and Mahikeng local municipality mayor Gosiame Seatlholo.
She allegedly approached a traditional healer on November 21 asking for help in killing Mahumapelo and Seatlholo using muti.
The healer reluctantly agreed to help her, and told police of her intentions on November 28.
She was arrested in Mmasebudule village, Zeerust during her second consultation at the traditional healer's kraal at the village.
"The premier respects the independence of the judiciary and the right of the Lehurutshe Magistrate's Court to preside over this matter without any fear or prejudice," Mahumapelo's spokesman Sam Mokaila said.
He said Mahumapelo was not in any immediate danger.
"The premier welcomes the submission by the State in court that investigations are continuing and hopes that a deeper and wider probe of the plot will bring to the surface all facts currently undisclosed."
