'My world shattered into pieces' - Kelly details the moment she found out Senzo was married

Kelly Khumalo has opened up about the moment she met Senzo Meyiwa and the devastation she felt when she discovered he was married.

The singer wrote her first blog post on a new website launched on Thursday, and described how she was hesitant to date Senzo, despite his repeated attempts to meet her.

Referring to him as a "stranger", Kelly described how the pair had spoken on the phone, met on holiday and still kept in contact upon their return to Joburg. But she felt "annoyed" by him because he was "coming on too strong".

"I finally gave in and decided to go on a first date with him. I won’t lie, I had fun! …and from that day he was no longer a stranger… I was in love," Kelly admitted.

Kelly said things moved quickly between them and soon she was telling him about her family. He told her that he too had a child with a previous partner but assured her that they were "no longer on speaking terms".

"In getting to know each other, I had informed him of my baby boy Christian, Christian’s dad, my mom and sister. He took me to his house on numerous occasions, told me he had a baby momma whom he was no longer on speaking terms with. We made a pact that we will not allow our past to interfere with our future. I fell in love," she added.

The pair moved in together and were happily in love...until the heartbreaking moment Kelly found out that Senzo was still married.

"My world shattered into pieces," Kelly admits. "What was even worse was that the same morning we had just come from the doctor who confirmed that we are expecting a baby. While waiting for him to come home, I realised that I had been made to believe that something I thought was so pure and so real, actually didn’t exist. I did not know what to do, I was in love with a married man," Kelly added.

Speaking about the couple's relationship in an interview with MTV in June, Kelly said that she felt Senzo had no backbone and that he had conned her into a relationship by not telling her he was still married when they met.

"I was not aware that he was married. I feel like it was selfish of him not disclose that he was married and I will always feel like I was conned into the relationship based on dishonesty."
