Jada Pinkett Smith and her family aim to confront real issues on web series, Red Table Talk, and in the latest episode, which delved into how to survive loss, Willow Smith admitted that she went through a period where she self-harmed.

Willow, who is now 17, told her mom and grandmother, Adrienne Banfield-Jones, that after the release of her hit 2010 single, Whip My Hair, she plunged into a black hole and started to self-harm.

"I feel like I lost my sanity at one point. It was after that whole 'Whip My Hair' thing and I had just stopped singing lessons and I kind of was in this grey area of, 'Who am I? Do I have a purpose? Is there anything I can do besides this?'"

She said she was "cutting myself and doing crazy things" but still went on tour after the single was released. She was around nine-years-old at the time and never told her family what was going on.

Jada started tearing up and admitted that she never saw any signs of self-harm.
