Kairo Forbes' stepfather and DJ Zinhle's husband, Bongani "Mörda" Mahosana, took to his socials to pay tribute to slain rapper Kiernan "AKA"  Forbes.

AKA was gunned down outside a popular restaurant in Durban on February 10. The shooting also resulted in the death of his lifelong friend, celebrity chef Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane.

After staying away from AKA's memorial and funeral for cultural reasons and having said nothing on social media, the former Black Motion member penned a tribute to AKA at the weekend.

Mörda explained it had taken him a while to be able to put pen to paper  because he didn't know what to say.

Dear Kiernan, I took a little longer to write this, but to be honest I didn’t know what to say,” he started.

The musician, who shares a daughter with DJ Zinhle, shared his reverence for the rapper as a music icon before he went into what he learnt from AKA as a man and father.

“As a man, I learnt something very important from you, know your worth. No matter what happens in your life always know your worth. As a father, you were amazing. You did it all for Kairo and that shows in the love she has inside her. Your legacy will live on. May you rest well with the many legends we look up to. Till we meet again, Dad Motion.”

DJ Zinhle and her husband had been in one of the most impressive blended family dynamics with AKA and his family to provide a healthy environment for siblings Kairo and Asante.

She took to her Instagram on Thursday to thank her followers for their support and prayers.

“I am holding Kairo's hand throughout. Thank you for your messages. Please don't stop praying for my child. God bless you.”
