FULL LIST | AKA bags six nominations at Metro FM Music Awards

The late rapper AKA has received six nominations at the Metro FM Music Awards 2023 (MMA).

Metro FM, which received 900 entries from record labels and independent artists, announced the nominees on Thursday after the launch of the awards on January 18.

AKA is nominated for Best Hip Hop Artist for his album Mass Country, Best Male, Artist of the Year and his hit song Lemons (Lemonade) featuring Nasty C scored him three nominations including Best Music Video, Best Collaboration Song and Song of the Year.

Kiernan “AKA” Forbes was shot dead outside a Durban restaurant on February 10. His murder is still under investigation.

In honour of AKA’s legacy, the Forbes family continued with the release of the Mass Country album on February 24. All elements of his album were approved by him before his death. 

AKA's girlfriend, rapper Nadia Nakai, took to her timeline to congratulate her late beau.

The awards are set to take place on May 6, at the Mbombela Stadium in Mbombela, Mpumalanga, and will be broadcast live on SABC1.
