It's not easy to distinguish between friend and foe in the celeb world. So safeguarding your tight circle of friends and cultivating genuine friendships that were there before the fame is crucial.

Mondli Makhoba recently reflected on his friendship with SAFTA award-winning actor Wiseman Mcube and what they had been through together.

The actor recalled how they first met in 2012 when working in the theatre show Amambazo Musica, and later moved in together when Wiseman accommodated him while shooting Isithembiso in Johannesburg in 2017.

“To me, he is a brother ... There are a lot of things we did, and [that were] done to us. One of the things is that we were robbed of R10k. We lost the money, but our losing the money came with a realisation that our friendship was deeper than we thought. We started motivating each other, walking back from being homeless,” he wrote on Instagram

Mondli spoke about how proud he was of their journey together in the acting industry and both being cast in Mzansi Magic's prime-time drama series Shaka iLembe.

“Mkhulu, you are great at what you do as an actor. I remember when we were working out at Virgin Active Milpark, when I got the Generations: the Legacy email, you were doing Ring of Lies. I remember when we both left the house for SABC to work on Generations: the Legacy together. You were Skhalo, I was the Captain. I remember how proud I was when you started at Uzalo. I later got Imbewu, you were killing it on Uzalo. When you came to The Wife, I knew the character was safe.

“Now that we are on Shaka iLembe together, I'm proud of our journey. I appreciate you, Mahlobo. You are part of my story. And I cannot be told without you in it.”
