'I can’t say thank you enough' — Focalistic on success of his one-man show
Focalistic is grateful for the success of his first one-man show, the Straata Nation Address, that took place at the Pretoria National Botanical Gardens on Saturday.
On his Instagram timeline he shared a clip of the show revealing the venue was filled to capacity.
“In all of these videos, I keep remembering that my mom was watching me perform for the first time. I can’t say thank you enough!!! History was made!! Everything is possible with God!! Botanical Gardens 2023!! 15,000 voices,” read the post.
In a separate post he said the show was sold out and that he was looking forward to hosting another one in 2024.
“I’m writing this with tears in my eyes!! Dankie Modimo! Thank you all so much!!! 15,000 people in the Botanical Gardens!!! We had to close the gates at 5pm and we rooockedd!! Sold out #StraataNationAddress until next year!! 14 September 2024,” he wrote.
“When we take it back home to Pretoria, we are making sure the kids feel inspired and the inspiration is tangible. My music is a way of stretching out to my fans to motivate them. I want more people to be inspired and want to change more people’s lives through my music,” he said to TshisaLIVE ahead of the show.
Focalistic started out his career rapping in English but has since acquired international success rapping in his home language.
“Many of us artists were first introduced to hip-hop on TV, by other international stars. Amapiano came and saved us. This is our canvas as something that we relate to. So being able to do it, and do it at the highest level, is a blessing on its own.
“On a quest of finding our voice, amapiano has become a Southern African phenomenon. Amapiano has made it more comfortable to say things in my own voice. I’ve been able to morph into my true self,” he told TshisaLIVE.
