Only slight change in petrol prices this month

The price of 95 octane petrol will increase by four cents a litre while that the price for 93 octane will decrease by two cents a litre on Wednesday. The Department of Energy says the main reasons for price adjustment are the weakening of the rand against the US dollar which had a negative impact on the fuel prices of about 30c/l and slight increase in the price of crude oil (on average) in September compared to August.“In other words‚ if the rand had stayed at the same level‚ on average‚ against the US dollar as it was August‚ the prices of petrol would be decreasing by 25-30c/l and diesel would be increasing by 20c/l in October‚” the department said.It added that the whole sale price of both grades of diesel‚ the maximum retail price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and the prices of Illuminating Paraffin will also increase with effect from Wednesday.Diesel will increase by bertween 51c and 53c‚ illuminating parafin by between 50c and 67c and liquefied petroleum gas by 11c per kilogram...
