As much as the ANC would like all South African citizens to support and appreciate the good things and successes that the ANC led government has achieved in the past 17 years, can you blame us?

Can you blame us if we are unable at times to do so, not because we are doomsayers or lack patriotism. Our view is obstructed by a huge mountain of failures, which include corruption, lack of services, unemployment and so forth.

We need a change of heart from the those in government who manage our taxes to have a responsible attitude to servicing the people, a commitment to people and not the ANC.

Maybe we may be able to climb over or walk around the mountain of bad services and see the what is instore for us on the other side.

The will to work for the South African dream in our case the rainbow and not for ANC glory. Let’s be like Americans, Libyans and Egyptians, who die for their country and not for Hosni Mubarack or Barack Obama’s party.

They protect the constitution with their life, they have become fodder in the onslaught of their country against terrorism and dictatorship respectively. Right or wrong they go in, in honour of country flag and constitution. Let’s all wear the same t-shirt that depicts South African pride and not t-shirts that glorify one ANC individual for 5 years.

Let's sing the national anthem with passion irrespective of our pronunciation of the Afrikaans or Xhosa part. let’s not ask what colour the criminal was but rather how is the victim.

In the past we were the polecat of racism, right now we are running the risk of being the polecat of corruption in all its forms.

It seems that there are those, some very senior officials of the ANC who are prepared to go to the extreme of causing a mini civil war within the party to keep the statusquo. They unashamedly stand up for the criminals and their dastardly work within the party, while at the same time we are expected to acknowledge the success of the ANC led government.

It’s a tall order and as much as we would love to, we just don’t have the privilege of an unfettered view! A simple question would be how do you justify an alleged R8 million RDP house with the successful delivery of school books on time at opening of public schools?

A normal person would be more concerned about the R8 million than the 200 000 schoolbook packs at a school that has no laboratory.

I’m proud to be South African but ashamed of some of those who represent me in parliament. The racial card has run its course and is irrelevant when it comes to the behaviour of custodians of our government. We have to say these things.

There is a Setswana saying “molaya Kgosi, wa bo a motaela” meaning that reprimanding our leaders we make them better leaders for our own sake.

I just trust that such criticism can be taken as constructive and not destructive by those who are in power.
