Potch police net drugs worth R300,000 and 4 suspects remanded in custody

Four suspects were remanded in custody until next Tuesday when they appeared in the Potchefstroom Magistrate's Court on Wednesday for possession of drugs.

According to North West Saps‚ the accused - Thokozani Chabuza‚ 29‚ Njabulo Chama‚33‚ Sizwe Mabaso and Nkululeko Mvelase‚ 37 - were nabbed by the Potchefstroom Flying Squad on Monday evening along the N12.

"The police were patrolling when they spotted a stationary red Toyota Corolla along the road. The occupants‚ a driver and three passengers were approached and eventually searched together with the vehicle‚" police said in a statement.

During the search‚ two suitcases and one bag were found inside the vehicle’s boot. "It was discovered that the suitcases contained dagga weighing 2.9kg while the bag had 2 025 mandrax tablets‚ all with a combined estimated street value of R300,000."
