The Daily Dispatch has exposed a shocking breach of State hospital patient confidentiality after accessing thousands of private records on a government Internet server.

Acting on a tip-off from a reader who stumbled onto the records while searching Google, we were able to access the server through a web browser and download detailed records of Frere Hospital patients.

One file of names contained basic details of over 20 000 patients.
