Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe on Sunday urged communities in and around KwaZulu Natal to cooperate with government in the fight against tuberculosis and HIV-Aids.

Motlanthe was speaking at the unveiling of a state-of-the-art hospital ward dedicated to treatment of TB patients at the Catherine Booth Hospital in Mandeni, on the north coast of KwaZulu Natal, SABC reported.

The facility is one of the nine facilities countrywide to be constructed in the province.

It assists health professionals in isolating suspected TB patients.
