The managing director of the University of Johannesburg will have to endure more restless nights - her appearance in court on a charge of theft has been postponed for another month.

Nicole Lowe is accused of stealing bedding worth R3060 at the Woolworth's store in Woodmead, Sandton, northern Johannesburg, on September 5.

She has not entered a plea.

Security personnel at the store allegedly found the bedding at the bottom of her shopping trolley, which was full of goods that she had paid for.

Lowe arrived at the Randburg Magistrate's Court early but had to wait 90 minutes for the magistrate, who was presiding elsewhere.

Yesterday, prosecutor Marco Swanepoel asked the court to postpone the case for disclosure of evidence for the defence.

The state asked for a postponement because it was waiting for CCTV footage to become available that might shed light on the allegation.

Lowe's lawyer agreed to the postponement.

The trial resumes on October 26.
