Thieves who stole T-shirts from luggage at the Cape Town International Airport may not know they belong to hulky wrestler Sin Cara - and he beats people up for a living.

The masked wrestling sensation is among 20 wrestlers visiting from the popular WWE series.

Sin Cara, 29, and the others had an unpleasant welcome on Tuesday when they found their bags had been ransacked. "Sentimental" items went missing.

After their performance at Cape Town's Grand Arena on Wednesday night, Sin Cara and Big Show signed autographs and posed for pictures with young fans at the Canal Walk.

Speaking through interpreter Rod Zaputa, Spanish-speaking Sin Cara said he was gentle and loved people, but did not take kindly to anyone stealing from him.

"They stole a sweater and a T-shirt from my bag. I still like the country, but I don't like people stealing my stuff. We haven't reported it to the cops. Our company is taking care of it," he said.

"It is my first time in South Africa and I like the country very much. It's a beautiful country and I love being here. Cape Town is very beautiful. I like the water."

Fellow wrestler Big Show, who landed on another flight, felt at home. "This is my second time in South Africa," he said.

"So far it has been friendly and we have great friends. We can feel the energy. It's positive. I have no complaints at all," he said.

"We are staying in a beautiful hotel in Cape Town. What more could we could ask for after 30 hours of travelling? Good food, a good place to stay."

On Tuesday, Viper (real name Randy Orton) tweeted: "Landed in Cape Town a few hours ago. Beautiful here. Too bad over half the roster had various items stolen out of their checked luggage."

Acsa spokesman Deidre Hendricks said yesterday the theft was being investigated.

SAA spokesman Dileseng Koetle said: "SAA has, thus far, only received one report, that is a file for a damaged bag."

John Langford, CEO of tour promoters Big Concerts, said wrestler Christian mentioned the theft to the audience during the show.

"There is no excuse for it," said Langford. "It's embarrassing."

The wrestlers head for Durban and Joburg after Cape Town.
