Government spokesman Jimmy Manyi is no longer allowed to make comments on the Public Protector's recently released report, he says.

Manyi said at a press conference in Pretoria that all questions about the Public Protector Thuli Madonsela had been "centralised" with newly appointed presidential spokesman Mac Maharaj.

Earlier this month, Madonsela released the second of her two reports into two controversial building leases, in which she found that the conduct of national police commissioner General Bheki Cele and public works Minister Gwen Mahlangu-Nkabinde amounted to maladministration.

Last week Manyi was quoted by the Star newspaper as saying that government did not consider that Cele and Mahlangu-Nkabinde had done anything wrong.
