A 22-year-old man arrested for clocking 200km/h in a 120 zone on the N4 highway appeared in the Brits Magistrate's Court, the North West public safety department said on Wednesday.

Spokesman Lesiba Kgwele said Fardeen Mahomed was released on R1000 bail when he appeared in court on Tuesday. The case against him was postponed to January 30, for trial.

Mahomed was arrested on New Year's Day near Brits, when he allegedly clocked 200km/h on the speed camera set up by members of the North West provincial road traffic management unit in Bapong. He was driving a BMW 330i from Sun City to Laudium in Pretoria.
