The case against a woman accused of killing her five children was postponed by the Pampierstad Magistrate's Court on Monday, North West police said.

"The case was postponed until March 12," Captain Cherelle Eelis said.

"She will stay in custody until her next appearance."

Venolia Siwa, 35, stands accused of drowning her children -- aged between two and 13 -- when she thought a concoction she had given them was not working fast enough.

She was arrested after the bodies of her children were found at a house in Lower Majeakgoro village on October 17.

Since her arrest, Siwa has undergone an 30-day evaluation at the Weskoppies psychiatric hospital.

The psychiatrists who evaluated Siwa would submit their reports at her next appearance, Eelis said.
