Talk Radio 702 may be losing staffers to yet-to-launch Power FM, but Eusebius McKaiser is not jumping ship.
The political analyst said yesterday morning that he had turned down the station's offer. He is not returning to Talk Radio 702 any time soon, either.
"I haven't signed a contract with Power FM. I'm not with 702 either. I'm busy with my second book on the DA, which my publisher is on my back about."
McKaiser anchored 702's Talk@9 show on week nights, but resigned, and was replaced by former Carte Blanche presenter John Webb in March.
McKaiser said the book, which comes after his popular debut A Bantu In My Bathroom, will look at the DA's chances in the 2014 national elections.
The Times understands that 12 staffers, including journalists, producers and technical staff, left Talk Radio 702 for Power FM recently.
The 2013 MTN Radio Award winner for Traffic Presenter of the Year, Jadene Tager; reporters at Talk Radio 702's Eye Witness News Theo Nkonki and Andrea van Wyk; Redi Tlhabi's former producer, Mava Kuselo; and traffic reporter Ferial Carelse are some of the presenters who have ditched 702.
Power FM's rivals should be Kaya FM, but this will become clear after chairman Given Mkhari has set a launch date.
