Just when you thought it was safe to get back in the water, aerial footage showed an enormous great white shark lurking close to the beach where the 1975 film classic Jaws was shot.

The 4.3m shark was spotted about 100m off the coast in Duxbury by the Massachusetts State Police Air Wing, who were on patrol in the area.

Swimmers were ordered out of the water.

Police said no injuries were reported.

Eventually the shark, which was spotted on Tuesday, moved into deeper water and the beach was reopened.
