Search for nanny and child after cash demand

A search is under way for an 18-month-old baby boy and his nanny, who allegedly absconded with him after a dispute over unpaid wages. The live-in nanny, only known as Nosiyoyo, worked for single father Alwanda Mayekiso for four months.She was left with the toddler, Nelson Rolihlahla Mayekiso, when the father was admitted to hospital at the beginning of last month.It is alleged that when he failed to pay the nanny at the end of the month, she disappeared with the child.The pair were last seen by friends and family on July 30.Speaking from his hospital bed, Mayekiso said she had sent him a text message demanding immediate payment of her R1500 wage.He said he had responded with a phone call, pledging to pay her when he was discharged from hospital.The nanny also allegedly threatened to harm the toddler if her demand was not met.East London police spokeswoman Warrant Officer Hazel Mqala confirmed that a case of kidnapping was being investigated and a search was under way for the suspect and child...
