Skwatta Kamp band member Nkululeko "Flabba" Habedi was happy before the argument with his girlfriend that led to his death, according to his cousin Mpho Motshoare. He was testifying yesterday in the trial in Johannesburg of Flabba's girlfriend, Sindisiwe Manqele. She has pleaded not guilty to a charge of murdering the rapper on March 9.Habedi, 37, died as a result of a stab wound to the chest at his home in Alexandra, Johannesburg. The state alleges that Manqele, 26, intentionally killed him, but she says it was self-defence.Motshoare told the court that the couple had gone to The Sands bar in Sandton, where Habedi was performing at a birthday party. "The accused [Manqele] greeted us and walked past. The deceased [Habedi] sat with us. He sang and sang. Then he said, 'I'm fighting with the chick'," Motshoare said.Later he had heard Habedi and Manqele arguing, at the end of which the rapper had shouted: "This bitch has just stabbed me."Manqele's lawyer said she would testify that at Habedi's home she had sought refuge in his bedroom. She would say that the door had been flung open and Habedi had entered carrying a knife. The trial continues...
