University of Limpopo students go on rampage

Limpopo students demanding that all outstanding debts be scrapped broke into shops and set a vehicle alight on Monday night, police said.

"Students at the Turfloop campus at the University of Limpopo went on a rampage last night," said spokesperson Colonel Ronel Otto.

"Tyres were set alight and shops were broken into and looted. A security vehicle was set alight."

She said 13 students, demanding that their debts be scrapped, were arrested for public violence and possession of suspected stolen property.

No injuries were reported.
