Pupils in the Western Cape will have to wait a little longer for their matric results. Most pupils in other parts of the country will be able to get their National Senior Certificate results from their schools at 8am tomorrow, but the Western Cape will come to the party four hours late, at noon. And although the results for the other eight provinces will be available on the Department of Basic Education website from midnight tonight, Western Cape results will be posted on the provincial government site only at 2pm tomorrow."This is done for reasons which include giving principals the opportunity to examine their results and pick up any errors that might have occurred, or to alert the education department that a disappointed candidate might need counselling," said education MEC Debbie Schäfer.About 53000 pupils wrote the matriculation exam in the province last year. She was "quietly confident that the lass of 2015 will do this province proud".According to Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga's department, last year 799502 candidates registered for the examinations, more than ever before.About 7million scripts were marked by 41564 markers at 121 centres.Exam monitoring body Umalusi approved the results for release last month. The Western Cape will make counsellors available to help pupils who need support, and the Department of Social Development has made its Gender-based Violence Command Centre available to anxious matric pupils ahead of the release of the results. This is where you can get your resultsThe department's website www.dbe.gov.za.Results will also be available on SowetanLIVE via Times LIVE from 06:00 on WednesdayResults for the Western Cape will be available online from 14:00 on Wednesday at http://www.westerncape.gov.za/service/examination-information-and-results...
