Our hate will turn against us

How we South Africans have alienated ourselves from our African neighbours! Not so long ago, xenophobic South Africans were attacking foreign nationals for "stealing our jobs".These xenophobes appear to have a great deal of time on their hands because they have made it their favourite pastime to attack other Africans. On the subject of foreign nationals "stealing our jobs", I have often wondered how someone can steal a job that didn't even exist before. In fact, in some cases you will find that a foreigner has even employed South Africans in his/her business.I mention this after an Afrobarometer survey found that only 68% of South Africans compared with 81% of Africans overall are tolerant of other Africans living in their country. With the state of our country at present, I can't help but wonder how accepting our African neighbours would be of us emigrating to their countries. Now that we have alienated our fellow Africans, which African nation will offer the passengers of the SS South Africa a lifeline when it sinks?Comedian Trevor Noah must also be a prophet for he spoke of a time when black South Africans would be asking: "How much is that ticket to Australia again?" That time is now. ..
