Ivory Coast hotels attacked

Ivory Coast's military killed at least six gunmen who led an attack on hotels popular with foreigners yesterday, the third time a West African hotel has been targeted since November.At least 16 people are dead, according to two people familiar with the operation. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.L' Etoile du Sud Hotel, the Wharf Hotel and Hotel La Taverne were the targets, according to the two. Grand-Bassam is 30km east of Abidjan.At least five Lebanese citi-zens were injured. Otherswere evacuated, the state-run National News Agency reported.Ivory Coast, the world's biggest cocoa producer, has been on high alert since November last year when militants linked to al-Qaeda led an attack at a Radisson hotel in Mali and pledged to continue attacking allies of France. More than 50 people were killed in Mali and during a February assault in Burkina Faso. ..
