New-look Ashley Madison launched

Ashley Madison, the website for spouse-cheaters that was hit by a massive hack exposing millions of members, is rebooting under new leadership as an "open-minded dating" service. Its Canadian parent company is facing a US Federal Trade Commission investigation over the hack.The Ashley Madison website's long-time slogan, "Life is Short, Have an Affair", is gone and has been replaced by an image of a modestly dressed woman and a button labelled "See Your Matches".Avid Life Media, the parent firm of Ashley Madison, announced "a new direction and total repositioning" of the service. It said that newly appointed CEO Rob Segal and president James Millership had made "transformative changes" to Ashley Madison , its flagship brand."Our new team is committed to taking care of our members and to building on our portfolio of unique and open-minded online dating brands," said Millership.Last year a hacker group released personal data on more than 30 million members of Ashley Madison. The fallout led to reports of blackmail and suicide.The breach cost Avid Life Media more than a quarter of its revenue, Segal and Millership revealed, adding that the company was spending millions to improve security and considering payment options that gave more privacy.But it faces a mountain of problems, including US and Canadian class-action lawsuits filed on behalf of customers whose personal information was posted online, and allegations that it used fake profiles. ..
