Although Shakes Mashaba has a right to demand to be reinstated, he cannot dictate how the SA Football Association runs its affairs, the organisation's lawyer has argued.

Anton Myburgh told the Labour Court yesterday that the former Bafana Bafana manager's application to the court was not urgent and that the court should not interfere with Safa's contractual obligations.

Mashaba has asked the court to stop Safa from hiring his replacement before the finalisation of his challenge to his dismissal at the Commission for Conciliation Mediation and Arbitration .

Mashaba was fired as national team coach in December after a disciplinary committee found him guilty of gross misconduct, insubordination and violating the communications policy of Safa.

This was after the coach's public outburst in November in Polokwane, when he had a go at Safa bosses and the media after his side's 2-1 victory over Senegal.

Myburgh said there would be no "grave" injustice against Mashaba if Safa hired another coach while the CCMA matter was pending.

"If Safa appoints Mourinho and Mashaba is reinstated [by the CCMA], that is not his problem," Myburgh said.
