Collision in Pietermaritzburg leaves three dead‚ four injured

Three people were killed and four others injured on Thursday night in a collision between a car and a bakkie on the N3 near New England road in Pietermaritzburg.

“ER24 paramedics‚ along with other services‚ arrived on the scene and found the two wrecked vehicles in the road. Sadly three people were found to have sustained fatal injuries‚” said ER24 spokesperson Ineke van Huyssteen.

“Upon closer inspection‚ the driver of the bakkie was still trapped and ER24 had to use the jaws of life to extricate the man‚” she added.

ER24 transported one of the injured to the Edendale hospital and another to the Grey’s hospital. Kwazulu Private Ambulance Service transported the other two patients to Grey’s hospital and Edendale hospital.
