The bodies of three people have been discovered in the charred wreckage of a truck‚ which collided with two others on the N3 near Estcourt on Thursday morning.

The road closure will result in the rerouting of traffic bound for the coast and is expected to cause significant delays. The N3 is the main route between Durban and Johannesburg.

Three trucks are understood to have collided and then caught fire shortly after 5am. The N3 Toll Concession tweeted that traffic bound for Durban had been rerouted via the Loskop interchange.

KZN EMS spokesperson Robert McKenzie said that paramedics had treated three people for serious injuries sustained in the crash.
