Twitter gushes over 'top runner' Ramaphosa & his Soweto Marathon debut
Even though President Cyril Ramaphosa pulled out of the 10km race he was supposed to do at the 2018 Old Mutual Soweto Marathon, Mzansi was still helluva impressed.
Ramaphosa took part in the race as part of his Thuma Mina campaign which encourages healthy living.
He got given the number one race number on the day and had support in the form of Sports Minister Tokozile Xasa, Gauteng Premier David Makhura and MEC for sport in Gauteng, Faith Mazibuko.
Ramaphosa pulled out of the race early because he had "other engagements" but Twitter was still in crush mode.
The President of South Africa CR walking / running Soweto Marathon with the people of Mzansi today. He is smiling and taking selfies with everyone - that’s true Leadership. No ivory tower president in Mzansi - you eat, sleep, walk with the people. ✊🏽 pic.twitter.com/RM4OzAJOnh

The 10km run/walk of the Soweto Marathon must be called "Selfie with Mr President"

Obvs when you're doing a race with The Pres, you're going to aim for a selfie.
Twitter had their requests ready knowing that number one was going to be there.
We all know it’s always too hot on the day of Soweto Marathon but today weather iyavuma. Allow me to say Mr President @CyrilRamaphosa has the remote control for the weather today. Siyabonga Mphathi for participating, great inspiration #RunYourGreat #SowetoMarathon2018
