Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana legend and former Leeds captain Lucas Radebe has put his weight behind the anti-xenophobia campaign by tweeting a photo of himself with a caption that reads: “I was once a foreigner at Leeds”.
The soccer icon holds a poster that reads:

The post‚ made on Tuesday in the wake of the xenophobic violence that gripped parts of the country over the past two weeks‚ caused a Twitter frenzy among Radebe’s fans.
Most tweeted support and appreciation for his stance.
Celebrities‚ artists‚ politicians and the general South African public have come together in one voice to slam the violence on foreign nationals from Africa‚ which claimed the lives of seven people‚ including Mozambican national Emmanuel Sithole.
Sithole was stabbed to death in Alexandra township on Saturday.
Sithole’s brutal murder in full view of the Sunday Times photographer James Oatway and members of the public angered the country and focus the eyes of the world on South Africa‚ prompting activism countrywide.
Radebe has joined South Africans in condemning the attacks and reminding the nation how sport has always been used to spread tolerance globally‚ with the continent’s soccer stars continuing to find fame‚ fortune and recognition in developed countries around the world over the years.
